FilmG showcase at Blas Festival once again

We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to showcase Gaelic films from years gone by at this year’s Blas Festival.

The crowd at Session A9’s gig in Sleat were welcomed by a FilmG classic set in North Uist, Siùbhlachan by Ùisdean Murray followed by a feel-good music video from local highland dance group, DAES.

Folk attending the Niteworks, Shoogenifty and Hò-Rò gig on Saturday had the pleasure of seeing Crìsdean MacDonald of Hò-Rò on both stage and screen. A screening of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig’s ‘Crìsdean Cunnartach’ - Crìsdean’s own interpretation of Danny MacAskill’s ‘The Ridge’ - had folk in stitches!

A documentary by Greenfaulds school pupils about their hopes and ambitions (from owning a kitten to marrying Rhianna!) was shown at the Highland Youth Arts Hub showcase on Sunday the 6th, and this Saturday a short documentary film featuring a local woman, made by a local woman, will be shown at Alan Kelly’s gig in Àros.

We hope people enjoy the films and are inspired to visit our website or YouTube channel to see some other fantastic Gaelic shorts.
