NEW Sports Prize

We are delighted to announce our NEW PRIZE for Best Sport Commentary for FilmG 9.

We are looking for clips up to 2 minutes in length, covering any local sport of your choosing – football, shinty, rugby, swimming, dance, tennis, or indeed whatever you follow. Shortlisted adults will then be invited to battle it out at a real game!

Final: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a live BBC ALBA broadcast and asked to provide live commentary

Prize: Work experience on a live sports broadcast

Here are Hugh Dan Maclennan's Top Tips!

  • Remember, if you don’t get it right the first time, you can always stop recording and start again. Listen back to your entry to make sure that you’re happy with it before submitting
  • It is recommended that you have preparation notes with research and facts and statistics that will add colour and interest to your commentary. You may submit these along with your recording if you like.
  • Practice makes perfect! BBC ALBA has sport coverage on a regular basis – turn it on, turn the sound down and practice until you are good enough to put Hugh Dan Maclennan out of a job!
